Paula was born in Payson, Utah, and raised in nearby Salem in a family of six children. She attended Spanish Fork High School and Brigham Young University. As a child she could “hear music in her mind” and loved to sing and make up little songs. Shy about her composition skills, she secretly wrote a theme song that was chosen for a high school dance.
After her marriage, Paula took an extended break from music in order to focus on raising her family. Following a difficult illness, she began “hearing” music again. She has worked and studied privately for many years, but has more recently been tutored by a gifted composer. Three of her compositions have been recognized in the LDS Church Music Submission, and her works have been performed as part of the Temple Square Concert Series.
“Composing and arranging what I hear in my head is a great spiritual challenge,” Paula says. She acknowledges that without heavenly assistance, she is able to do nothing. “In a blessing I was promised I would ‘always be teachable enough to learn’, and that beautiful promise sustains me.”
Paula is married to the love of her life, Michael Snow (originally of Livonia, Michigan). They have four grown sons and twelve grandchildren. They enjoy doing Family History and working at the Columbus, Ohio LDS Temple.
Paula Snow’s newly published song “I Turn to Thee” is available as a new release this week.
